we just got back from a week of riding thru the Appalachias. great roads, beautiful part of the country. Tried some excellent bourbons and whiskeys and a few craft beers. I still have to sort out the pictures and videos


Bardstown trip 2017 – 1976 miles

Day 1 – Saturday, July 8 – southern WI to Lawrenceburg, IN – 480 miles
Meeting group in Beloit at Pilot station at the intersection of 39 and 43 at 0945
Via I-39 and I-74, all slab and toll roads
Lunch in Normal, IL at DESTIHL brew works at 318 south Towanda Ave. exit onto I-55 east to Veterans Pkwy, turn right onto Hobby Lobby Drive, park on right just after Hobby Lobby.

Day 2 – Sunday, July 9 - Lawrenceburg to Weston, WV – 320 miles
I-275 south to KY-9 south to US 64 east thru Charleston, and then north onto US-79 To Weston, WV.

Day 3 – Monday, July 10 – Weston, WV to Wytheville, VA – 200 miles
Take I-79 south to 19 towards Lansing, WV. Then take US-19 South across New River Gorge state park, to US-64 / 77 South to Wytheville.
Alternate route (very scenic) adds 100 miles – stay on US -64 toward Clifton Forge, take 220 South to I-81 west to Wytheville.

Day 4 – Tuesday, July 11 - Wytheville to Bardstown, KY – 342 miles
Take the Blue Ridge Parkway - US-81 southwest towards Knoxville, then exit 12 (Morristown) onto 160 North to US-25 E (Cumberland Gap Tunnel) towards Corbin, then I-75 north to US25/150 into Bardstown.
Stop by Wilderness Trail Distillery near Danville, KY. tours 10-4 on the hour

Day 5 – Wednesday, July 12 – Bardstown distilleries and such
in town distilleries – Tom Moore Distillery, Barton distillery, Heaven Hill Distilleries, Willet Distillery Tours of distilleries – out of town
Heaven Hill, Barton 1792 Distillery, Barton Distillery, Willett Distillery, Bourbon Heritage center, Strong Spirits, Makers Mark, Limestone Branch Distillery, Four Roses, Jim Beam, Woodford Reserve, Wild Turkey, Wilderness Trail

Day 6 – Thursday, July 13 -Bardstown to Terra Haute, IN (visit Chuck Hardin) – 310 miles
– Corvette Museum - 90 miles
- West on KY-9000 (bluegrass pkwy) to I-65 south, exit 28 for National Corvette Museum
350 Corvette Drive, Bowling Green, KY 42101
To Terra Haute take Old Porter to Louisville road, KY-9007 north towards Owensboro, go north on SR-60 to merge onto the SR-54, then right onto Leitchfield road, left onto 3rd street and right on to the bridge (161 north) to SR-66 west to US-69 north to US-64 west to US 41 north, then merge onto US 150 north to Terra Haute, merge onto I-70 east, then exit SR 46 north to hotel. - - 220 miles.

Day 7 – Friday, July, 14 – Terra Haute to WI – 340 miles or to wherever.
Take I-70 west to US 150/41 north, stay left onto IN 63 north, then take I-74 west to I-39 north.

i finially got around to doing something about the no photo bucket. see if this works

full use of the tire width. the excellent roads also ground down my foot pegs and the screw heads on the exhaust shields.

If you look about half way down the rear tire pic
Near the chicken strip, could it be a small nail

No nail there, that is one of the little rubber bits that are on new tires. This tire was just put on the bike a week before this trip.

Any way it has been replaced, as the center was gone way past the wear bars
